From Southern MI, Take I-75 to Exit 202 (Alger, M-33).   Take M-33 North through Rose City, Mio, Fairview and Comins. At Fairview, be sure to turn left at the blinker in town to stay on M-33. North of Comins M-33 joins M-32. Turn right onto M-32 and head East to Hillman ( ten miles). The resort is on M-32 just East of Hillman.

From South Western MI Take M-131 North to Cadillac, Go East on M-55 to Houghton Lake. Then North on I75 to Exit 254 (Grayling), East on 72 to Mio, Go North on M-33. At Fairview, be sure to turn left at the blinker in town to stay on M-33. North of Comins M-33 joins M-32.Turn right onto M-32 and head East to Hillman just ten miles. The resort is on M-32 just East of Hillman.

From Northern MI, Take I-75 South to Exit 310 (Indian River), then take M-68 East to Onaway. At the light in Onaway, turn right and take M-33 South until it joins Atlanta. At the light in Atlanta, turn left and head East on M-32 to Hillman (16 Miles). The resort is on M-32 just East of Hillman.

FREE golf, a Gorgeous New Home on a beautifully wooded site with perhaps the best view at Thunder Bay Resort.  Watch the action on 4 holes.  Home is newly decorated (including brand new appliances) – take advantage and be among the first to occupy at rates that will ultimately double as Michigan's battered economy recovers.  These rates would justify travel from Europe, Asia and anywhere in North America to play golf in Northern Michigan, a region with many of the top courses in the US. 

The Resort's award winning “Elk Viewing, Carriage Ride, Gourmet Dinner and Wine Tasting is optional at extra cost.  The winter version on sleighs was named one of the “10 Best” sleigh rides in North America by USATODAY.  This “World Class”event is a must do on any visit to the Resort.

The monthly rental includes a month long membership with reciprocal playing privileges at over a dozen other Northern Michigan courses – usually for $20 or less per person for 18 holes with cart.  Tee times at many of the premier courses are available at somewhat higher rates.     

Play on Thunder Bay's 18-hole resort course, it is carved from mature forests with numerous ponds and marshes and is included FREE in your daily, weekly or monthly rental.  The course has a slope rating of 120 to 131 and five sets of tees to offer challenge and enjoyment to golfers of all abilities.  An additional two sets of tees allow the course to be played as a Par 3 course.  Walking is permitted Sunday through Friday and carts are optional at a per person rate of $8 for 9 and $15 for 18.  The golf is included for up to four occupants, with a nominal additional charge for additional golfers

Situated in the midst of majestic hardwoods, pines and clean air, the fully furnished model offers 1950 SF of living space on two levels with two bedrooms, three baths and an open loft area is useable as a third bedroom.  The fully stocked modern kitchen includes a microwave oven and dishwasher.  The living room features a massive stone fireplace (gas log) and a deck with table and chairs overlooking the golf course.   King, Queen, and double beds provide sleeping arrangements for up to 6 to 8 people.  All linens are provided.  

Central heat, Wifi in the Clubhouse, satellite television, washer/dryer, coffee maker, alarm clock and outdoor gas grill are a few of the extras provided. An attached two car garage and drive provide parking for 2 to 4 vehicles.

Alpena Regional Airport is 15 minutes to the East and offers turbo-prop service from Detroit. Shuttle service is available from the Alpena airport; however, it may be best if you rent a car during your stay. Detroit Metro Airport, a major Northwest Airlines/Delta hub and International Gateway is an easy 4 hours drive from the South. 

The Clubhouse Grill is open daily from May through October and on weekends during the winter months.  The Grill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and provides live entertainment several times a week. The food is good and the pricing is moderate. The Friday night Fish Fry and Saturday night Country Ribs are local favorites. Groceries, fuel, ATM, banks, churches, and other services are available in Hillman, 5 minutes from the Resort.  Additional retail shopping, restaurants, cinemas and medical services are available in Alpena, a 25 minute drive.

For the fisherman, Fletcher Floodwaters and numerous nearby lakes and rivers offer northern pike, large and smallmouth bass, perch, blue gills and other pan fish.  Alpena is 22 miles away with easy access to fabulous walleye, salmon, steelhead and lake trout fishing in Lake Huron.  Fly fishing for brook, brown and rainbow trout is available on nearby inland streams.

Nearby activities include The Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center, headquarters for the only freshwater NOAA National Marine Sanctuary featuring scuba diving and snorkeling in Lake Huron to view one of the biggest concentration of freshwater shipwrecks in the world. Also popular are canoeing, kayaking, rafting, mountain and road biking, hunting, swimming, walking, bird watching, scenic drives, sightseeing, lighthouses, museums, antiquing, quilting and more, as well as, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and other winter sports.  Thunder Bay Resort is situated near 135,000 acres of public forest.

The resort is open year round and rentals are available anytime. Come in the spring to experience the flowering trees, lilacs, morel mushrooms, strawberries and maple syrup; in the summer to enjoy many local festivals; in the fall for apples and the briliant autumn foliage; in the winter for Cross Country Skiing and Snowmobiling. Golf is available from mid-April through October.
