There is an AM/FM stereo with CD player, TVs, and a DVD/VCR player.

On the lakeside is plenty of lawn furniture to put in the sun or shade for just relaxing with a good book. There is picnic table for an outdoor lunch or dinner The Weber grill is great for grilling the fish caught in Lake Huron. The deck on the front of the cottage is a favorite to watch sunsets, the surrounding gardens, and our abundant bird life including bald eagles, woodpeckers and lots of hummingbirds. Walk down the boardwalk past the swaying dune grass to the sugar sand beach and take a swim or just lay on the beach and soak up the sun. You also can walk the beach at the waters edge in either direction for miles. In the evening start a fire in the cottage fire pit near the beach, watch the stars and roast marshmellows or just enjoy a small fire in the portable fire pit behind the cottage.

So much to do beyond the deck and beach. Across the street is Walt’s Meat Market which has wide variety of cold cuts and meat, hot homemade bread and baked goods, and the best jerky around. And don’t forget a hot cup of cappuccino first thing in the morning. At that time just tell them what you want and they’ll have your meat fresh cut for dinner and a hot loaf of fresh baked bread for you right out of the oven. Want to go out. Go to Port Austin’s quaint and bustling Farmers Market first thing Saturday morning and get everything you need for a weeks stay; explore the beach, dunes, and hiking trails at Port Crescent State Park; take a walk through the Huron County Nature Preserve; horseback ride; golf at 4 different golf courses nearby or play miniature golf; get a huge old fashioned ice cream cone in Grindstone City; pick up some lake fish right off the boat at the Bayport Fish Market; see a movie at the wonderful 50’s movie theater in Bad Axe or Caseville; go fishing off the pier in Caseville. Also nearby are great restaurants like Breakers by the Bay, the famous Farm Restaurant, The Bank 1884, and the Garfield Inn. Yes, that Garfield.

Life truly is better at the beach and we’d love to share our home with you so come and have some fun.

ADDITIONAL PROPERTY INFORMATION

We have had a great response through Rentalbug and returning renters.  At present (6/14/10) our cottage is rented all the way through the summer until August 27th.  It is available the week of August 27th until September 3rd just before Labor Day.  Also we do continue to rent into the fall.   Over the summer the water heats up and keeps the shoreline warm into mid-October.  The water is still nice to swim, it’s quiet, and the Saturday market stays open in Port Austin.  A weekend rental (2 nights) after Labor Day is $400, long weekend ($500), and week $800.  If you are interested, just give me a call or email. I’ll get back to you as quick as I can.

BRING: Beach towels. We have spices and some condiments.

Not OK to smoke inside. OK to smoke on deck.

From the guest book 9/25/2009. This was a wonderful place to spend my birthday weekend! All the comforts of home and a million dollar view! We enjoyed a perch dinner, the farmer's market, and a drink at the Bank. On Saturday night we had a barbecue and built a fire in the pit. We hope we can come for another visit next summer so we can get some sun and swim. Wish I could live here.

From the guest book 8/28/09. Wonderful place! This was our only family trip this summer and spending it at "Dean's Den" was wonderful! The cabin was very comfortable, especially important for out new little baby girl. The view was awesome...birds, water and sunsets everyday. Our son had a great time on the beach and my husband on his kayak. Thinks for creating such a nice place and being so generous to share it with people such as us.

From the guest book 8/14/09. We just loved it here at this beautiful place. The vases with the live flowers made us feel extra welcome. The was a wonderful week. Some of my favorite things to do were: coffee and a book on the deck, climbing the huge rock on the beach, corn maze at night with flashlights, catching huge lake trout on "The Osprey" with Capt. Atwell, and watching shooting stars from the adirondeck chairs with a good beer. From the daughter--This vacation was so awesome! I had a great time hanging out on the beach. I hope we get to stay in this cottage next time we come here. THANK YOU!

Thank you so much for opening your cottage to us. We loved the location, the inside coziness, and the outdoor beauty. We appreciated some of the smaller touches such as the binoculars, jugged water in the kitchen, the portfolio filled with local information to help better plan our stay here, the beach items and the game closet. Even the beds were comfortable (and we are particular about our beds!) The decorations throughout the cottage were a good mixture of beachy things and other things that you guys are interested in. The house was also very clean and had all the accommodations we needed. We also appreciated that whenever we needed to contact you guys you were easy to reach. Also, we met several of the neighbors and they were very nice and helpful. I would highly recommend this place to others and hope that we will be able to make it up here again sometime soon!
