MICHIGAN VACATION PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
Luxury meets laid-back on a quiet Lake Huron Beach. With a cozy fireplace plus heat and A-C and great insulation, Sandy Cottage is comfortable and peaceful in any season.
If you're thinking of a winter getaway, know that this part of Michigan's Thumb doesn't get the lake-effect snowstorms they get on the west side of the state. As of Jan. 5, we can still see much of the lawn, and we haven't had to use the snowblower yet. At the water's edge, ice is starting to form. We always anticipate the ice formations as winter progresses. Out on the lake, the freighters still go by, though in fewer numbers.
The accoutrements of a year-round home await you in a 1,500-s.f. cottage with Lake Huron views and access. Ideal for couple who seek private, spacious retreat or for family of four. Sleeps up to six. Lake views from all east side windows. Low, sandy beach is 110 feet from your door.
Upstairs suite has queen bed, attached bath with tub/shower combo and double sink, dressing room, reading alcove plus two Eames-style recliners for watching the lake or the flat-panel TV with premium cable and DVD player.
First-floor sleeping quarters offer a daybed plus trundle and another TV. Livingroom has a queen sofa bed. Downstairs full bath has stall shower. In addition to the central heat and air and the fireplace, Sandy Cottage has a propane grill, private garden, WiFi, and a well-equipped kitchen.
Accessible? Your call. It's three steps up into the house, and one step between livingroom and kitchen.
The owners live next door, where they operate Adventure Inn Bed and Breakfast. They are committed to your comfort during your stay.
You get linens and towels and other amenities of a quality you'd find in a B&B -- even cloth napkins and locally hand-made soap. See the long list of features and amenities on our website. More photos are available there, too.
Please also see the policies and house rules our website. We're committed to maintaining the quiet, residential character of our neighborhood. Please note especially: No pets or smoking; only registered guests may use the beach; parking is available for up to two cars, and we have no turnaround space for boat trailers or RVs.
Guests from SE Michigan tell us they can't believe the "up-north" vibe is available so close to home.
Until Father's Day, stays of any duration are available, with a two-night minimum. Thereafter, until Labor Day, seven-day, six-night rentals are available on a Monday-1- p.m.-thru-Sunday-night basis.
July is our most popular month, and August is the reason God made Michigan. Our rates are lower in May, June and September and even lower October through April. We also offer substantially lower rates for a one- or two-person stay.

Sandy Cottage is a wonderful place for us to get away from presenting our literacy workshops. We can't speak highly enough of the attention we get from Sandy and Nicholas and will keep on returning as often as we can.
The position on the lake is just wonderful and we have yet to be there in some warm weather but love it whatever the weather.

We have stayed three times at Sandy Cottage and just love being there. Apart from the cottage being a wonderful home away from home for us, Sandy and Nicholas are wonderful welcoming and gracious hosts. Any time we are in the area we will be staying there if the cottage is available.
