Michigan Event Calendar - May thru June 2008
Tulip Festival, May 3-10
Holland celebrates its Dutch heritage with America’s “Best Small
Town Festival”—Tulip Time. Millions of blooming tulips form the
colorful backdrop for parades, concerts, Dutch Marktplaats and much more.
National Morel Mushroom Festival, May 15-18
Shroomers flock to Boyne City for the weekend celebration of the National
Morel Mushroom Festival. Flea and Farmer's Markets, carnival rides, arts &
crafts, sports tournaments and food events, including a Morel Breakfast and
Morel Taste of Boyne, round out the festivals.
Kirtland Warbler Festival, May 17
Nature lovers flock to the annual Kirtland's Warbler Festival honoring the
cheery lemon-breasted songbird that nests only in limited areas of Northern
Michigan. This "Celebration of Nature" includes a guided trip to
the endangered bird's nesting areas near Roscommon.
East Lansing Art Festival, May 17-18
Over 200 juried artist exhibitors from all over the US and Canada bring fine
arts and crafts to sell. Also, a variety of activities, performances, demonstrations
and the international food court for your enjoyment.
Alma Highland Festival, May 24-25
Located on the Alma College campus, the festival includes piping drumming
and band competitions along with traditional Scottish dancing and fiddling.
If you want to really experience the festival, stick around and take part
in our Ceilidh (party) on Saturday night.
Colonial Michilimackinac Pageant, May 24-25
Experience a reenactment of the June 2, 1763 Native American attack on the
British-held fort as presented by a Mackinaw City community group. Visitors
will meet famous Indian Chiefs, Minavavans and Matchekewis of the Objibwa
tribe.
59th Annual Mackinac Island Lilac Festival, June 6-15
Mackinac Island comes alive with scented flowers and many activities during
the 59th annual Lilac Festival. Flowers, games, the Grand Parade and live
music are just some of the events during the festival.
Bavarian Festival, June 12 - 16
The Bavarian Festival has been voted "Top 5 Festivals in the State of
Michigan" by AAA's Michigan Living Magazine. It’s not just an event…
it’s a feeling of “Gemütlichkeit,” combined with the
warmth and friendship of Michigan’s charming Bavarian village.
Muskegon Summer Celebration, June 26 - July 6
Heritage Landing in downtown Muskegon is home to 11 days of concerts, events,
fireworks, arts & crafts and carnival rides. Whether you're a kid or a
kid at heart, Muskegon Summer Celebration has an event for you.
Michigan Championship Balloonfest, June 27-29
Check out Howell for the state championship of hot air ballooning, featuring
more than 50 gorgeous balloons. Enjoy thrilling skydiving exhibitions, stunt
kite shows, kids activities, a 5K run, a medieval village, arts festival and
family entertainment and more
